Shailaputri is the daughter of Himavan-Lord of the Himalayas. Strong willed as the mountains she won Lord Shiva’s heart through many years of severe penance and deep devotion. Her unending devotion and perseverance awakened Lord Shiva from his deep meditation. Shailaputri asked the Lord questions about the Vedas and the Tantras. Her wisdom, beauty and will for learning enamoured Shiva and he was compelled to share all his learnings with her.
